Babies

No, not my babies. Nor am I any closer to having any children. For now, I'm perfectly content with me, myself, and I... unless you know any cute guys in the DC area ;)

While working orientation today, I kept forgetting how young the new freshmen are until I had a conversation with my friend. Not only is the Class of 2014 the same age as my cousins, whom I visited in the hospital when they were born, many still look young. It just made me feel old today, especially after a random teenager tried to friend me on Facebook.  Babes kept popping up and reminding me that I'm not in that stage of life anymore! Thank goodness :)

Anyways, I started the day with a twist on a popular smoothie flavor in the blog world. I concocted Chocolate Cherry Hot Cereal and it did not disappoint! This trial bowl contained:
  • BRM and buckwheat mix
  • 1/4c almond milk
  • 2/3c water
  • 1/2T chia
  • cinnamon
  • 6 cherries, halved and pitted
  • 1/2T chocolate PB

Lunch was another monster salad in between meetings and orientation sessions. This one was similar to yesterday's:
  • spinach and romaine
  • a carrot, sliced
  • bell pepper and cucumber
  • 2 olives and 1/2T feta
  • 1/2c black beans
  • 21 seasoning salute, dill, black pepper
  • a few blue corn tortilla chips

Snack #1 was a serving of this seaweed snack. It's just like eating the seaweed part of a sushi roll - crunchy, salty, and flavorful.

Snack #2 was yogurt and berries and a couple of random bites of things. I was in a grazing mood :)

Despite not feeling motivated, I convinced myself to go to the gym. It's becoming the theme for the week!  I was glad I went to pilates and the class was just what I needed to work out some steam, even if we had a 5 minute interruption for a fire alarm going off.

I'm getting excited for birthday #1 on Friday and spent some time with my birthday buddy planning while dinner roasted away in the oven.  I baked up a block of tofu as well as half of a white onion, ~1c broccoli, and sliced baby 'bella mushrooms.  I used some leftover pasta from last night and the tofu and veg to make a stir fry with a bit of kimchi on the side. I have been craving this all day and it was well worth the wait!  I also had a small pear topped with a 1/2T of chocolate PB mixed with a splash of almond milk to make a sauce. Mmm!

I have a few more things to take care of before bed but hopefully I'll get a good amount of sleep again. I'm really dragging this week but there's at least one perk - I've been sleeping like a baby :)
