Wonderful Sunday

Hi everyone! How was the rest of your weekend?  Mine was quite the productive day with some fun, exercise, and relaxation thrown in as well.

I decided to kick off August right and go to the gym in an effort to get some of my fitness routine back. I did:
  • 6 min warm-up on the bike
  • 30 minutes weight lifting a la Summer Shape up and Self fitness cards
  • 10 minute cool down on the bike and stretches
From the gym I headed to the running store for new shoes! I know I've mentioned it before but I am quite the Princess and the Pea when it comes to running shoes.  I've been struggling a little bit with needing to make this purchase as well because I now have my custom orthotics for my toe and felt over-educated about running shoe types, styles, and what might be effecting my susceptibilty to injury. I got a great sales person who was patient, knowledgeable, and boiled everything down for me. Whew! It turns out I need a very straight shoe as opposed to the curved last that Asics, Saucony, Mizuno, and others have.  I first tried on the Brooks Defyance 3 and ended up with them. They hug my feet and felt great in the store!

I was more than ready for lunch when I got home. I had my leftover taco and rice from dinner last night alongside some Cuban black beans with a side of beets. I had to eat these because the waiter didn't pack up my beans when he packed the rest of my dinner. Kind of irked me...

The rest of the afternoon was spent planning my class schedule for registration tomorrow and tackling the rest of this list
  • writing some blog posts for the week - Get excited!
  • clean and freeze berries from yesterday
  • packing list for Miami
  • tidy up the apartment
  • meal planning
  • reading for fun!
I got nibbly so I decided to have an early dinner instead. I had kale chips, carrot fries, 1/4c brown rice and a serving of chicken breast topped with some sweet and sour and hot sauces. It was exactly what I was craving!

I then decided to give the new shoes a try and set out on a walk. 40 minutes and 2.6 miles later (I apparently was hauling it) I am excited at how my feet feel after making the switch to new sneakers!

The rest of the night has been full of productivity and reading for fun. I also munched on a pear, some toast, and a little bit of dry cereal that was camera shy.

Now it's time for bed. I have registration in the morning!! It feels like college all over again...
